Default a top from gifted HSTs

I finished this top from some UFO HST blocks someone gifted me to get it out of their house. lol... Sadly I can't remember who it was that gave them to me, but I had a lot of fun playing with them and deciding on a layout.
The original maker had sewn them into a top, I'm thinking didn't like it, and cut it apart at the seams. When I got the poor little orphans they needed some pressing, squaring up and then hanging out with my UFOs while they recovered from their trauma. LOL
I love both the colors and they are even coming back into popularity it seems. So now that they are feeling safe and loved in my sewing room, I pulled them out to hang on the design wall in all their glory and feel the love.
I'm happy to have them all secure in this top now and I am pleased with the pattern I chose for them. I am thinking I will use this pattern layout again in the near future for another HST quilt. Maybe in florals with greens? or browns? hmmm......

I'm calling it Double Down because it was a UFO twice and now it's off the list! Also, it's not as crooked as it looks, I just need to press it and fix my design wall which has decided to sag a bit.

You gave those little hst's a nice home - I am sure they feel very welcomed and happy to be in their new quilt top. They sure look pretty! ~smile~

Nice!! Reminds me of something I saw and loved in one of Joen Wolfram's early books on color. Great save!
