I have been having family shop at my stash so they do not have to buy fabric. I wish it were like my clothes, if you buy one you need to get rid of one. So far not so good. My sister wants to come organize my stash, maybe we have a play day in my stash. Our German niece has never quilted before and my sister dkbeck taught her tube quilting and I did FMQ so she will be able to do it at home. These are her table runners with fabric she picked and her quilting for the first time. dkbeck's daughter came and shopped to find borders for a quilt she is making from our dad's dress pants. He died in 2008 and she wanted something of his.

Your sister sounds just like my sister! Only my sister isn't a quilter and doesn't understand why I have so much fabric. But she will buy something, get rid of something etc. Very organized. Wow, I can't believe we are sisters! haha

I have been trying to get rid of my stash, too. Not the whole thing, just the fabrics that "aren't me" (I have a lot of fabrics given to me by friends and family who don't sew anymore, or just questionable choices I made because a fabric was cheap).

I've been tracking "fabric in" and "fabric out" and so far I'm behind by about 15 yards *sigh*.

I've found that making my kids colorful pillowcases is a good quick way to use up fabric.

Sometimes I think about having a 'come thin my stash' party, but then I go down to pick out those I'm not willing to give away....
and alas, I cancel the party.

I keep thinking, "ahh, this is so pretty, I have to keep it!" and "this would be perfect on...." and I keep it. Then "oh.. I can't give this away, I bought that to make...." What's a quilter to do?

I love your quilts by the way! I try to use my "What was I thinking when I bought this" fabric for my charity lap robes. My tastes have definitely changed in the few years since I took up quilting(thanks to my DM that thought I needed something to do when I went on disability)and I try to only buy fabrics as I'm going to need them unless it's something I just can't live without! I have been able lately to "shop" from my stash and save my DH lots of money, lol!!

Do you need to be adopted? Still hope we get to meet up some day.

How sweet of you to offer!!
Maybe a day this fall we can get together. My summer's been soo busy; now waiting for the next GC in midAugust. It's our farming partners' fifth--which means G'ma is on call for babysitting, calf chores and maybe relief milking.
    Enjoy the family! G

I wish I had a sister! Could never talk my mom into it when I was little!! She wouldn't listen! I wished on a star all the time all I got was a pesky brother!!
