Default snappy purses for Christmas gifts & a step stool too

Since all our money has gone, and is going, to doctor bills, we had to get pretty creative on some gifts.

I made 2 birthday gifts and one Christmas gift of snappy purses for my granddaughters.
The brown & teal purse pics are front and back of one purse. The parrot pics are all one pic (inspired by another QB emmeber who made a purse with this fabric panel).

My hubby made a step stool, with storage under the top step.

I wish more people would go the hand made gift route, that is what Christmas is really all about. I hate the commercial aspect more each year. My daughter gave us a basket with homemade spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, a pumpkin roll, small apple and banana bread loaves, and a candle!! We forbade our kids to buy for us this year.

Oh, yum! That was a great gift! We really enjoyed doing it. It was kind of hard becuase I work 2 jobs, so really had to watch every second, as well as every penny. But, they all loved what we gave them, so we felt it was worth it.

My daughter and her hubby told the kids money was kind of tight for them too this year. The oldest girl came up with a suggestion, that they implemented, and I think a new family tradition was born in their family. They went to a hotel for a night, watched DVDs and played games, had puzzle competitions, etc. They even just walked to a near by restraunt for dinner. They just got a few little gifts (that most would consider stocking stuffers). They were all so relaxed and happy as they left the hotel. They all thought it was great.

I think you are wonderfully blessed to have the talent to do all those gifts. It is a wonderful idea. I, too, think we should all get back to the old way of Christmas giving. Everyone already has too many store-bought goods. I would love to have had any or all of the gifts you made.
