Default Verdant Spiral

Each month our quilt guild has a 1/4 yard lottery. You bring 1/4 yard based on a theme of the month in a plastic bag. All the bags are put in a pot and one is drawn. The person whose bag is drawn wins the all the fabric. I won one a few months ago where the theme was green. I added the purple and pink pieces based on a couple of the green fabrics and this is the quilt I made. The spiral sections are 1/2 square triangles. I'm more of a traditional quilt person so this is really a departure for me. I like the optical illusion and the quilt as a whole is growing on me. I didn't use a pattern but rather sketched it out on graph paper.

I love, love, love it. The two sides of my brain are fighting with each other right now. Do it!! No, too much work! Do it! . . . etc. I'm getting better at half square triangles, but they do require precision. Yours are fabulous.

I really like it. It's a great quilt.

I also like that your quilt group has a theme for the drawing fabric. We do the drawing, but have no theme. It's fun to win but it's impossible to make a quilt out of the winnings.
