making this for my dad. had intended to give it to him for christmas but honestly bit off more than i could chew with all the quilts i had to make, along with bow-tucks bags.... so i told him i'd finish by the end of january. anyways.... does this look right? i tried to make it manly and used tartans because we are scottish.

That's going to be a very manly quilt.

As for the pattern of the quilt, my eye immediately went to the tan spots in it. I'd myself cut them smaller and scatter them around more, or remove them entirely.

Bet he makes this his very favorite lap robe in front of the TV.

Very nice! I was in JoAnns today and instead of the Quilters line, they had all plaids. Wished I could pick some up but I'm already buried! And it's not even New Years yet!!!

Looks like a great "man quilt" in the making. The plaids are great! I bet your Dad's going to love it.

Wow - gives me ideas - I have been saving my DH's shirts - he is a farmer and wears plaid shirts and is very hard on them - so I have a pile of them now!
