Default What should I charge?? Monogrammed Checkbook Covers

I have made a few of these for family as gifts, but have recently received requests to make a few to sell.

Fabric is top quality LQS oriental, for cover, lining and pockets - uses 2 contrasting fat quarters ( retail hereabouts for about $3.00 to $3.25 each...Then I have batting, embroidery thread ( 2 colors minimum ) - so my actual supplies are running almost $10.00............I was thinking of $25 to $30 since each is monogrammed............

What do you think??

How much time to you have involved with making them?

At the very very very least, recover the cost of your materials.

Nice and they are personalized. I would like to say $30 but I think you are more liable to get people to pay $25. That will pay you for your material and 1 hour of work.

In this case, the rule of thumb to charge 2 to 3 times the cost of materials, is in the ball park.

I have - on average - an hour and a half to two hours to complete each one........That is why I thought maybe $30.........the only ones I would have for sale would be those I have been asked to create.........I am not making these up in advance for sale to the general public..........What do you think?

(the pictures do not really do these justice)

yep, that price sounds good to me. I bought one from the company that supplies my checks and it was at least $30.00. not monogrammed either!

30.00 seems fair as it is custom work.

How gorgeous. I don't know anything about pricing. What a delight it would be to have such a thing.
