I know a few of you know..but here is Carl my 13 year old son with aspergers...with four of his quilts. It is such a sweet thing. He wants to be a soldier when he grows up and this project was perfect for him. He was paired with an experienced coach to help him learn how to sew/quilt. She was the perfect coach for him and all was successful.
It is a sweet weekend too because he (Carl) just read a book about aspergers (we have never told him he had it..he has a mild case) and he came to us (his dad and I) and said "I think I have aspergers." We told him we already knew. He wasn't upset about it...and he even smiled as he went through the book and pointed out all of the things he identifies with.
He has two of each pattern/fabrics.
Blessings!

Marvelous young man. He's a good American.
You should be very proud of raising such a good citizen.

The quilts are really nice...but what I'm really drawn to is your son's beautiful smile! He looks like an awesome kid! So great that you found someone that would work so well with him and help him create something that you can tell he's so proud of!

Please tell him he did a wonderful job sewing his quilts. He is growing up to be a good, kind man.
