This is my first attempt at machine applique. I'm pretty happy with it. All the directions I read said to use thread to match each piece but I thought that would give me a line of color around each piece so I did white to match the background. I wasn't trying for invisible just a light touch. I think the stitches actually go with the old fashioned style of quilt this is. The third pic is the pattern I'm using to learn this method. The pieces are put on separated so the background shows through like tile grout. I see so many design possibilities with this once I learn it. Has anyone here done one of these? All those applique points really scare me though.

What stitch did you use? It is hard to see in the pictures. It looks hand stitched to me. And, did you turn under a seam allowance? It looks very neat!
