 I got the idea from this board to use foam pool noodles to put on my knee lift levers to add just a little thickness to make them just right for me. I used one pool noodle to make padding for two knee lifts and then I got the idea to put sections on the bottom of my ironing board frame to make it less wobbly on my hardwood floors. I'm going to get more, cover them with acid-free muslin, and roll smaller quilts and top around them for fold-free storage. lots of excellent, helpful ideas on this board. We are lucky to have it as a resource.

I have used these pool noodles for storing some of my fishing gear, line leaders, crawler harnesses, etc on. But I never thought about using them for sewing/quilting items. I wonder how many ideas we can come up with for sewing related storage uses or any other uses. Our camper has a much smaller version of these that cover the rods. The curtains slide right over them in the rod pockets. Any other useful ideas for these pool noodles?

They are also excellent for shipping small quilts. Wrap the noodle in acid-free tissue paper or unbleached muslin (all muslin is acid-free, btw, but unbleached is best for this use) and roll the quilt around it, right side facing out. Wrap the rolled quilt in another layer of tissue paper or muslin, cover with plastic and box it up for shipping. No folds, no creases.

I forgot to say that these can be easily cut into whatever length you need with an electric knife.

Those are neat ideas!

You can get the noodles cheaper at the Dollar Tree stores.
