Am I the only quilter that does this?
I have got a million strips, scraps and half sewn projects. Have any of you started a quilt project, then decided that you did not like the colors or the pattern and just tossed it aside to use later? Thinking you can use it in another project but you never do? Today I was trying to straighten up my quilting room and was trying to get inspired with something I could do with all those squares and strips. Nothing. Do any of you have this problem. Guess I need to just toss them out. :(

If I have projects half done where I have gone "off the boil" and don't think I'll ever finish - I offer them to other quilters. If you don't know any quilters locally I am sure someone here would love them. You may choose to ask them to pay for postage...???

Have laid them aside for various reasons, not liking the quilt has never been a reason. DO NOT toss them out-----------------we've seen time and again that one quilter's junk is another quilter's prize. |
No I always love the pattern and fabrics for patterns I pick out, I just get bored easily so it takes me forever to finish them

I agree Annie. Some other quilter can use your leftovers for donation quilts. Or you can make crate pads for your local Humane Society.

I have a large lap quilt for my oldest daughter that I don't like. I had to put it aside because life got in the way and I'm having a hard time picking it back up now that I have time for it. I need to "Just do it". Won't we all be surprised if we like these quilts when they are finished?

This happens to me - I have save scraps for years and finally letting them go. There are several people on this site that will be happy to finish your UFO's and give them to a charity that needs them. A recent post, "Looking for your UFO's to finish for local charities" for one. Lilrain posted that on 5/2/12 - you might want to check out her post if you can part with your UFO's.

I started using some scraps for a mystery quilt. As I was sewing the strips together I was not liking it at all. When I finished I loved it. I did give it away but want to make a queen size one just like it for my bed.

I think many of us struggle with this same issue. As some quilters have already mentioned here I either finish the quit top and donate it, or make a kit containing the unfinished pieces and donate it.
Now I am wondering if this site could offer a section for UFO's to be donated? Not sure how this would work but it would be very helpful to those quilters who do not know of an organization who would very much appreciate the UFO. |
