Locating I Pad

For those of you that have an I Phone or an I Pad I would suggest that you download the APP "Find my I Phone". My son had his I Pad stolen yesterday and he had this app on it and we are waiting for the thief to turn it on so we can trace it and give the address to the police. As usual my children and grandchildren knew all about this app but forgotten to tell me about it.

Thanks I'll check it out. I love my IPad and use it daily.

I have it and it works great even for silly things like not remembering where you put it!

I have it on my Ipad. I don't have an iPhone but the newest thing is Apple Picking. A thief waits until you are on your phone in public and then rips it from your hand and takes off. That way they have your account, contact list and all your information because the phone is open.

My son had his phone stolen in a pub one evening, but he had this app on it. He located the phone in Montreal, we live in Toronto. He and 3 buddies got in the car, drove to Montreal (a 6 hour drive), found the house where the phone was, knocked on the door. Of course the person who answered it knew nothing about the phone. My son saw his phone on a table, walked in and took it. Then they drove home. True story! I don't think I would have been so brave, but my son has a lot of cuhtzpa.

My ipad2 had the app already installed,,it just has to be turned on when you set it up. However, I think if it was stolen, the thief would just turn off the tracking. Don't know.

My kids have iPhones and they have the app. My daughter has it linked to her apple account and won't share the password. I figured it'd be helpful if I ever wanted to track *her* down, since her phone is never far from her hand.

I guess she doesn't want me tracking her down, lol, but in an emergency, it could be very helpful...

Thanks for the suggestion. I just downloaded the apps to both my iPad and iPhone and suggested my daughters and their husband/ significant other do the same.
