5 point Star block made from a cut up Nine patch block
Help! I am looking for directions to make a five point star made from cutting up a nine patch block. I have looked in all the places I could think of but haven't found it yet. Does anyone know of this block or have seen a tutorial for it? Thanks!

don't know of a 9 patch version. Here's an 11 patch:

Thanks Paper Princess for this tutorial .... looking forward to trying it! It sure is an easier way to make that envious star block. and thanks fairydawn for making this request .... this board is truly amazing!

After seeing this, I am reminded that I saw a similar one on a Fons&Porter show a few years ago. Might try following this thread.

Perhaps not what you are after but the Disappearing Hourglass Quilt presented by Jenny Doan at Missouri Star Quilt Co. cuts up into a star. I've been unsuccessful in posting a link.

I like that 11 patch version, not really "getting" why you'd want to make a block, then cut it and resew it. If I want a star I just make one. Guess I'm just old fashioned!! LOL
