Default 5 point Star block made from a cut up Nine patch block

Help! I am looking for directions to make a five point star made from cutting up a nine patch block. I have looked in all the places I could think of but haven't found it yet. Does anyone know of this block or have seen a tutorial for it? Thanks!

After seeing this, I am reminded that I saw a similar one on a Fons&Porter show a few years ago. Might try following this thread.

Perhaps not what you are after but the Disappearing Hourglass Quilt presented by Jenny Doan at Missouri Star Quilt Co. cuts up into a star. I've been unsuccessful in posting a link.

I like that 11 patch version, not really "getting" why you'd want to make a block, then cut it and resew it. If I want a star I just make one. Guess I'm just old fashioned!! LOL

Sometimes it's just in the challenge of seeing how it works for me. Reading through the tute for the 11-patch version, I was thinking, "Hmmm...might try that just to see how it works." I've got some really country looking patriotic fabric someone gave me. Might just be the fabric to play with. Oh, no, that means another UFO in the making. (I get that far, just to see how it works and I never get around to finishing the completed quilt.)

I must be old-fashioned, as well. I haven't been overly impressed with the sliced up versions, but as the old saying goes, "To each his own".
