several have asked for directions on making this tacking stitch. i have heard it called by several names.
when the needle travels from the bottom of the vee to the next position to begin the next stitch it is traveling thru the batting. the only portion of this stitch that shows on the back of the quilt is the right leg of the vee. i have circled it in the first illustration. any questions just ask. have fun, marie |
Thank you for the extra info... this has been puzzling me  I love the way the stitch looks by the way

You have done a very nice job at the tutorial - made it very clear. http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/1753.page This is my rendition from a long time ago. It's my favorite stitch, and I have noticed that you make lots that way too, Nanabird. Thanx for sharing.

It seems so simple now. Thank you for sharing with all of us!! :D :D :D :D |
thanks nanabirdomo,
loved the look of it on your quilt but couldn't see clear enough to figure out how it was done. I would think it's much better than tying, but I've never tyed (is that how you'd spell that) a quilt, I'm a domestic machine quilter, but have a small hand pieced quilt that I want to hand quilt. Maybe I'll turkey track it. your tute is very clear and through. thank you peel |
Thanks I have been wanting to try that stitch.
