Triangles verses Rectangles

Hi Everyone, been a long time since I have had a post on the Board. I have always loved how everyone has helped others when a quilting, sewing dilemma rears its head . I have made so far 3 zig zag or Chevron Baby Quilts. I need to make one more. I have made Three from Triangles. Really Tired of Triangles! A fellow quilter told me about he pattern using rectangles instead. Has anyone out there every made one using them? If so are they faster, easier than the triangles? I still have to cut for the last one, need to quilt and bind this one. So got some time to decide.

It is much easier in my opinion to use the rectangles. They can be strip pieced. You just have to lay them out on point. Your square will be made of two fabrics, so if your square is 5 by 5, you will cut your strips at 3".

thanks for the sizing, wesing.

I agree, rectangles are much better than triangles.

This link from Moda gives a good idea how to do it. They used charm squares, but I would use yardage cut in 2.5" strips (or whatever width you want)! Even without reading anything, the pictures make it clear how to assemble it.

Rectangles...good. Triangles...okay, but rectangles make life easier. Just sayin'.

It's easy with strips. I have done two this way.
