Opinions on FMQ Machine/s
Hi everyone...it's been a loooong time since I posted to this board, tho I have been peeking now and then. I have been practicing FMQ for about a year on my Viking Sapphire. I do not want to keep using my Viking for FMQ, but am not sure about a machine made for FMQ...I have been interested in a Tiara, but cannot afford $5,000 to $6,000. I have been looking at Juki machines too...I would not be quilting anything bigger than a large wall hanging, anyway not right now. I would appreciate your opinions/help on this subject. Thank you very much.

years ago i had a juki tl98q... loved it! but sold it with my quilt from when i left minnesota. just recently, i got a new juki tl2010q. i had been frustrated trying to fmq on my juki f600. the difference is like night and day and i can now fmq with confidence on the 2010q. i had bought both through ed reichert in phoenix http://www.raichert.com/ . the service is excellent and their prices about $100 less.

If you are interested in a mid arm like the Tiara, Sweet 16 or something like that check out the longarm university web site. Then check consistently. It took me a couple of months or more till my Sweet 16 came up. It is used but I have already put more stitches on it than the original owner. They list all makes and models in locations all over the country. I had to wait for one to come close to me. Good luck

I have a VIking sapphire and was very frustrated with FMQ. I read reviews on a JUKI 2010q and bought one online for about $900. It's straight stitch only. What a difference in my FMQ. I love my JUKI. My only problem is I can't figure out how to use the needle threader!! Not a huge problem but it sure would be handy. Someday I'll get it!!

I bought a Juki 2200 QVP Mini which is the same as the TL2010. I've been really happy with it for FMQ. I even did a large quilt and it went really well.
