Good Afternoon,

While at my local quilt shop this weekend, I got some Jelly Rolls on clearance. Buy 3 get 3 free!! Woohoo! So I have some Moda jane something fabrics. They are bright primary colors, but I have NEVER worked with Jelly Rolls before, and wondered if someone had a nice pattern that would recommend?

I don't have any in my head, but there are some on the Moda Bakeshop site and I absolutely love the books by Pam Lintott about jelly rolls.

I recently started on a Bento Box quilt that uses jelly rolls. You get 20 blocks from a jelly roll, very easy, and fairly quick. The place I got mine doesn't have it on their site anymore, but I'm sure if you do a check on the web, it will turn up somewhere. My Bento Box is made with Moda's Wildflower Serenade, and it's gorgeous! It's not completed yet, but when I finish it, I'll try to remember to post a picture.

Hi Michael, log cabins are good with Jelly Rolls, lots of layout possibilities!

I love the Bento Box pattern. Recently while organizing my fabric I started making my own jelly roll. I've cut two strips from any yardage that had over 2 yds. I figure that should still leave enough of the original fabric for most projects I'd do. I'll be keeping the Bento Box in mind. Makes a great looking quilt.

I made this pattern with a Bali Pop, and it turned out AWESOME. I'm going to do it again with just a "regular" jelly roll :)

Any of the braid patterns work nicely. I just pieced a braid quilt using 2&1/2" strips our guild members traded over the last 18mo. It was a lot of fun.

the fat quarter shop has a section for free patterns:
http://www.fatquartershop.com/freequiltpattern.asp

there is a "moda" section so maybe there is a jelly roll pattern in there.

I find that a lot of the fabric manufacturers have free patterns for their different lines of fabric. if you search the designer's name (on the selvedge) then you might find something specific to the fabric you bought.

Also, put in jelly roll pattern in the search feature here and see what you come up with. I did this for "honey bun pattern" a few weeks back to get some ideas.
