In April, my wife (Judy) and I, while driving to Cedar Key, Florida for a vacation, decided that we wanted to make I Spy quilts. We have 14 month old twin boy neighbors. So we started looking for material. Judy wanted them to be 36" x 48" with 3" octagional pieces. That means 192 pieces - each. Roaming around, we found the Suwannee Valley Shoppes in Trenton, Florida. What a great quilt shop. They have over 5000 bolts of fabric. While there we mentioned we were beginning I Spy quilts. One of the ladies said that she was making 4 for her grandchildren and that she would send us some of her scraps. A week or so after we got home, a package arrived with lots of useable pieces. Therefore, the pieces in the quilts come from Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. I did the cutting and some of the in the ditch quilting. Judy sewed all the pieces together. What fun.

Attahced are pictures of one of the quilts. I am sending a second message with number 2.

First of all let me say welcome to our quilting family. We are really happy to have another male quilter. Second I love your quilts. I don't think that I have sean an I spy that big. You did a great job.

What lucky kids! This is so colorful! How great is it that you were able to meet another quilter doing the same project with extras?

The quilts are great. How difficult was it to find all the different fabric?
