Default What happened to the format?

I clicked on "digest" when I arrived home from a quilt hop this p.m. (Sat. 27) and instead of getting the ususal daily digest, got a major heading "Resources." Beneath that were all the threads from yesterday. I tried to e-mail admin, but their mail boxes were full. Does anyone else have this problem or know what is going on? If this is some kind of "improvement," it is lost on me!froggyintexas

The same thing happened, Froggy, and for the life of me I couldn't get any header to open. I finally just opened a new window, used my drop down box and clicked on quilting board and got in that way. I thought I had clicked wrong on something somehow.

Why don't the two of you PM each other and discuss who your server is (in privacy). You may find your problem is with them today. It's a weekend and near the end of the month....seems to be a favored time for hackers, etc.

Same thing happened to me. I finally went to the bottom of the page and clicked on Archives, as I do with the Digest, and pulled up the usual page with the different sections listed. Have no idea why they changed the format, at least for a day! And I think there's no need to "discuss this privately"--Why on earth would you say that, Jan? It's kind of a put down, don't you think? So far it's happened to 3 of us and I don't think it has anything to do with our servers! Perhaps Patrice will shed some light. And we'll see if it stay that way.

Whoa, there, back the bus up! My goodness, this jumped the gun so quickly; what on earth is going on??

I RARELY if ever write something to deliberately offend someone...and I didn't this time. I suggested taking this to PM because I wouldn't particularly want to personally discuss my email address -- which is on my server -- in the PUBLIC forum. I suggested taking it to PM for their own SAFETY....and I am very surprised to have been reprimanded for thinking of such for them.

Since "only" three have had this problem (so far), it is possible the server IS an issue. It has not happened to me, for instance, and I've been on the board several times today. (And, no, I'm not mentioning my server here.) If the server's site has been hacked (do you *know* how many times this has happened this year??), then they will be working to fix the problems; but their customers could still see issues while that is in the works.

I am sorry you were offended by my post, Pollytink, but I do not regret sending it. I only regret you misinterpreted me.

PatriceJ has said in prior posts regarding this to skip the emails and come directly to the board. It's such a simple fix.

When you click on the link provided in the email you are taken to a page that only lists an arbitrary number of the busiest threads from the 24 hours preceding the time the system sent you the email.

because so many people rely on the emailed link ...
because so many people do not venture past that list ...

those become the threads most often viewed, so ...
those become the threads that get the most comments, so ...
those remain the busiest threads, so ...

a lot of them show up in the digest more than one day in a row.

the emails are only intended to serve as a gateway.
the digests are not - have never been - and cannot ever be - a substitute for "the full board experience."

They are rarely the newest threads and barely scratch the surface of all that's available here.

If you know you want to come to the board often, the emails are a waste of time.
they slow you down.
why wait for an email?

You never need those emails to connect to the board.
Just come straight to http://www.quiltingboard.com

If you like starting with the sample list of links, go to the Resources tab.
Make sure to keep exploring, though, so you don't miss any of the good stuff. :-)
The Archive link leads to lists of threads in reverse order - newest first.
The Top Menu Bar and Home tab are the starting points to get to everything.

You can add the QB to your browser favorites/bookmarks, put a shortcut on your desktop, or (if you are a total QB junkie like me) you can make it your home page.

Try using the direct route.
You might find you like it better. :-)
