2013 Fabric Moratorium

Pat: As usual, your "explanations" are far better than my lowly efforts. May I use the "someone elses" for my garage sale finds?

I've come up with a possible use for some of my stash if all goes well. Of course, it will inevitably lead to buying more fabric though. An acquaintance saw an in progress photo of the maze throw blanket I made and has asked to see some more of my work in anticipation of commissioning me to do one for him. Of course, since I've done one already, if he picks the maze, I still have the calculations and such. Anyway, I have no clue what price to quote him, so if anyone sees this and has done this before, please contact me.
Here's the "if all goes well" part. He's a business owner in Atlanta, and showed interest in selling some of my smaller pieces on a regular basis if he likes what I send him and gets good feedback from customers who see it. I'm talking about pieces like mug/candle rugs, runners, and baby car seat quilts. Honestly, I'd much rather sew full time than be an accountant, lol. With this new machine, maybe I can!

Of Course!! In the case of Garage sales, you can also say that you are saving the fabric from euthanasia!! It's sure to go in the trash if you didn't give it a forever home....HHHMMM Maybe we need a fabric shelter and have adoptions of fabric we no longer want!

You may be saving it from euthanasia
but only you know if it is simply moving from some one else's fabric cemetery to the one in your house.

Dusty'smomma...Did you get your new machine yet? I too, like to think of my stash as a happy place. Makes me happy to imagine making wonderful things from all the possibilities sitting there. Just have to live long enough. Cemetery..no way!

SandyinZ4, yes ma'am I did! I go tomorrow at 12:30 to learn to use the embroidery function. I posted the photos of the first thing I made (all from my stash) on it here:

I was very impressed with how it handled the thickness of the fabric around the bottom. At the top of the project, it was 2 layers, then 4, then 6, and finally 8. That in itself isn't impressive, except that all but the butterfly fabrics are a home decor canvas. I used the one with the checks and daisies for what you could see, but then I used some other I had in my stash that was tan (that I got months ago in that lot of fabric I bought for $25) for the parts you wouldn't see without looking down in the pockets, so the pattern wouldn't show through the butterflies.

I had to get fabric for new curtains yesterday (doesn't count in my moratorium since it's not for quilting). While I was there I ended up getting a few 1/4 yard pieces to fill in something I'm working on. I could have done without them, but they'll give some added interest and I only spent about 12$ so I'm good with it.
Somehow I ended up in JoAnn's the other day and they had batting on sale and I'm running low on cotton batting, so I got some. Well, don't you know, they were having a sale, so I got some more. Oh, and notions were on sale too so I got a few things there. But I didn't get fabric so I'm counting it as an overall success!
