2016 UFO Challenge of the Month
#2461
Now that is incentive to get something finished this weekend. I have many to choose from, but not sure they are quick quilts to finish because I over extended myself on quilting them. LOL Ah, but I do have a couple of wall hangings that could stand to be finished and still did not get those pot holders done from last year. Thinking.

Hi everyone!
Well, I made another pillow to go with "Pony Up!", this one is like an over-grown tootsie roll!! The customer had wanted two square and one tootsie roll to go with the quilt. Square pillow form was not problem, reasonably priced. The tootsie roll.... nowhere to be found, and what I found online was RIDICULOUS!!!!
So, I just bought a crib-sized poly high-loft batting, made a cover for it (permanent) then made the pillowcase. Considering that I did this without a pattern, I now know why they're so expensive... they're a PITA to make a permanent casing for!!
Pics to come soon!

Oops
I goofed. Although I counted RetiredTeacher09's finish in the tally, it appears I never saluted this UFO finish online here so...Toot, Toot, RT and congratulations!
And if I've inadvertently missed someone else's finish, do not hesitate to let me know. Thanks.

Nice finishes everyone! Thanks for sharing.
OCTOBER FINISH! A baby top: will be donated and finished by other volunteers. 40" by 48"
This was a Fall 2014 Mystery quilt hosted by MSQC and designed by Heather Spence.
When I pulled it out to finish it, I didn't like some of the color combinations so I decided to change them. I then decided I wanted it baby quilt size. I started sewing strips together and started cutting them into subsets and started to sew the subsets together for the first few rows. Then the realization moment occurred: 'Oh, no! Why doesn't my pattern show the chevron look like the designer's picture?"
I missed an important direction about making all the strips from color 1, then continuing with the other colors. It should have been a light/dark combo for each color. I decided just to cut more strips of the gold with vines on it and substitute that color for all of the lights.
I like the finished top but hope to use the pattern another time following the directions! Lol!

P.S. Time to work on other quilt tops/kits so they don't end up in the UFO pile!

I am nearly done with another UFO. I am stitching down binding and will post photos asap. Whew, that will be another finish. Then I found a top that was nearly done from I do not know when for sure but awhile ago. Figured out how to square it up (was an octogon shape) and will get it quilted for an additional finish this month. Think I just may hit some kind of goal this month.

quilts and ribbons- quiltermomma
Amazing quilts, quiltermomma. Congratulations on all the wins. It is nice to see some of them like the horses all finished and receiving a well deserved ribbon. Naughty doggie! LOL I love him though. a dog is a woman's best buddy though.

Since I'm leaving to visit family on the East Coast tomorrow, there will not be any UFO finishes for this month <sigh> But I do have my applique "forever" project prepped and ready to be worked on while I'm waiting in airports and in flight. <another big sigh> I have an hour wait (changing planes) in Phoenix on my way to the East Coast and on the way back home I have a 3 hour wait in Dallas/Ft. Worth (again to change planes) ......... well off to start packing!

I spent most of my weekend organizing my stash, but a UFO finish came out of it - a baby-quilt or probably should really be considered a wall-hanging. It has teddy bears lying all over the letters L-O-V-E.
My camera (that I also found as a result of organizing) is charging, but I PROMISE tomorrow I will post pics of the pillows and the wall-hanging.
I also uncovered a Dresden Plate UFO (just needs borders, quilting and binding), and a STUPENDOUSLY old UFO, that isn't really "mine". It's a flimsy, Drunkard's Path variation, that my great-grandmother made... probably around late 1960's-early 1970's. I'm going to have to be really careful with this one, as it's hand-pieced. Since they were both crammed in the bottom of a box, they're both in dire need of pressing. The Dresden Plate is about queen-sized, and the one from GGM is about twin-sized.
So, Janice, if you haven't already "counted" the pillows (they can count as 1 UFO, even though there's 3 of them), that's 1 UFO finish, and the L-O-V-E wall hanging is another. So, 2 finishes for me before the end of October.
Up next is my longarm challenge quilt. Not a UFO, sad to say.
