LOL! Nancia...no... I took a Master Gardener course some years back so am always aware of what zone is best to grow flowers in for where I live. Right now, I live in Zone 4...hence Z4. My only vehicle since 1965 has been a Ford of one version or the other. Hope that answers the ??? p.s. You made me smile!

I've been going back and forth on whether or not to go to the Hershey show this year. It's a nice day away and gets my creativity flowing, but I know I'll spend money in the vendor's mall, probably not on fabric, but certainly on notions. I'm really trying to cut back and I just bought a few books and some thread over the weekend. I was thinking maybe I could use the day that I'd planned to go to Hershey as a "quilt all day" day and not let other obligations take me out of my sewing room instead.

Nilla: Understand your dilemma. We just had the Sisters Quilt show here in Oregon. People come from accross the country to see it. Hundreds and hundreds of beautiful quilts on display. About 200 miles each way and no quilting buddies to go with. Opted out this year. Kind of sorry but there is always next year.

distance is one of the hardest to solve problems we have. on board we can talk to each other like we are next door neighbors, when we could be in separate countries or across the continent from each other. it would be so much fun to get together and usually way too difficult or expensive to actually do it. i'm going to hershey (i think) with dh, most likely on the week end, about a 2 hr drive. i'll be going past my quilty friend sue's house (about 1.5 hrs from home). pennsylvania is a big state, not as large as texas, but it was rare for me to travel 2 hrs or more to see a friend in texas. speaking of texas, i will be there from july 30th thru aug 27th and have already made plans to meet with some qb'ers while there. looking forward to it big time! back to pa., sue and i try to get together once a week, but it stretches out to 2 or 3 weeks between visits sometimes. we have so much fun! talking a mile a minute! yes, we get more talking done than sewing, but it's worth it! we had a slumber party with another quilter and had a blast! those parties are more fun with wine instead of kool-aide! just one glass, no drunkeness, too much equipment that would be unsafe under the influence. but just relaxing! then saturday we headed to the pa. dutch country (quite close( and did some looking and a little buying-- i bought itty bitty doll buttons, and the 99cent/yd fleece for dog beds, which i don't think falls under the moratorium. unfortunately, sue and sunnie found burkholders and that could be a whole 'nother story! batiks for less than $9/yd. and hundreds, if not into the 1000's to choose from! yikes!! that will have to wait for september or october for me! see, that's another place where it would be fun to meet!

Wish I lived closer to all of you! It would be so much fun to actually meet you in person and hang out and quilt and shop and all that. Oops we aren't supposed to be shopping are we? Oh well anyway...

Mea culpa--Took DDIl and kids to the airport today and had to go through a town with a really nice LQS. Oh a nice 8 yd and 4 yd piece of Judie Rothermal fabric for half off if I bought the rest of the bolt as well as a KTrouble 4 yd piece and then a couple of 1 yd pieces for 30%. Oops. Next a trip to JoAnn's to find fabric that matches DGD #2's new curtains to make a pillowcase for her 4-H fair. Came up with 3 pieces so GD #1 and #3 can also make similar pillowcases--teaching Grands to sew that's my excuse!!

I saw this today and thought it was fitting here...

“Fabricologist Resource Center”…..that sounds more impressive than "fabric stash”

I had to have a morbid giggle over this one too...

She who dies with the most fabric, dies. When is the estate sale?

Emma S 07-24-2013 04:50 AM

Ah yes, the estate sale. I figure someday I will make multiple quilters deliriously happy.
OK: I though any sale that is over 25% off should be automatically exempt from the moratorium. Plus you were ensnared, you did not activly lured out and entrapped in the course of helping out your family members. What else could you have done? Training the next generation of quilters? There clearly should be no restrictions there.

I will just mention in passing there was a quilters garage sale last weekend. Enough said.
