Along came Sandy and washed everything out.

And they were gorgeous too! Gave me some further ideas.... We are in spring time and hubby keeps inviting people over for BBQ's on the patio...... Off to the studio, right now. Some hanging deco's will be great for next week.

Ok, so I confess to having the sugar skull idea rattling about in my brain since I read the post yesterday, and since I was too tired to do any serious crafting I ran with it. I don't know if I'll ever finish this off, but here is my sugar skull! I would like to eventually sew it onto a black background and stuff the skull so it is 3D. I think it would make a perfectly creepy wall hanging for my front door.

Like it! Makes me smile (or am I suppose to shiver in my boots)..... ;-)

Day of the Dead skulls are not supposed to be scary. They honor the memories of lost ones. Still seem a little creepy to me. Kaelynangelfoot; I like yours. Sort of welcoming. "Come inside & have a margarita".

What fun. DO finish it---it won't take much to complete.
I think I will use an old orphan block as a background or two for a skull. Good idea and I certainly have leftovers.

I'm not quilting today! I will be spending the day "in the cit-Tay, with dotcomdtcm. We are going to the metro mod quilt guild, then off to lunch and panera bread. Woo! Hooo! Gonna have a big time! We will report back with all the happenings. Just trying to stay off the eleven o'clock news, just sayin'!
I was hoping to show dotty my ice cube, but i think it melted when I took it out of the tray and over to grann of6's house. And to make it a very quiltish week, i am coming right along with the hand quilting, singing , " rock me mama any way you feel" as i do the rocking motion of the needle. I will get there!
Simon is a part-time family member at the moment. He came in with dh and went back out on his own. I rarely see him and have to ask dh if simon has been seen. He is named for simon says! Good association, Suzie! He has been a chatterbox since kitten hood. Next time i will look for another quiet one like tiger. Big cat, itty bitty meow, of course he rarely gets a word in edgewise with simon and me conversating ! Lol, heard that word on one of the court shows. Loved it. Goes to show, if you don't know what you're talking about, stay quiet! And i do know what I'm talking about for sure! Night night! Big day tomorrow! Er, today!

I am exhausted, but happily! Dotty and i met up at the metro mod quilt guild meeting. My orange pants made it super easy for her to find me in the crowd. Lol. We had lots of fun! We made a fall block for a guild quilt-- took 4 of us. Then dotty and i stepped out and had fresh salad for lunch. Then off to American girl place. Oooooo, i wish i had tons of money! So many happy little girls, bored older brothers, and parents loaded down with ag everything ! I think i left a line of drool from the front door all the way up to the third floor, and down and out again! Then we went to city quilter by cab-- it was such a beautiful day for walking but by then our old lady bones and joints were saying" excuuuuuse, me! " so the cab was great! Then after buying too much.....dotty was good, i was not so good, not bad, just not very good either! I wanted to get some New York prints for ds who will return from london to NYC next summer/fall when he has finished his degree. I will ask him to look for london fabrics and mix the two cities in one wall hanging. Perhaps I can find london prints on line?!? I might even try to find some dallas cloth. Then after buying fabric at city quilter we went to the crumb place bakery and bought our dessert. Dottie had a croissant donut and i had a cup cake YUM!! Then we said our goodbyes, and she went home and i went back to city quilter to wait for dh. GREAT day!! What a fun quilty week I've had! Oh, and i saved the best for last! Dotty gave me a pattern and materials to make a dia del muertes skull! Woo hoo! Will start it tomorrow. This coming week i intend to go to the apple store to learn how to post pictures from the ipad.
