Anyone have a good recipe? Some of my daughter;s college brew is flat. First batch of bread was tasty but had a dense texture!

I don't have a recipe for Beer Bread but I have one for Beer Biscuits.

4 cups bisquick type baking mix
4 Tablespoons sugar
1 can of beer
Mix well. May have to add a tad more baking mix if mixture seems too runny. Bake in greased muffin pans or roll out on floured surface and cut like regular biscuits. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes or until brown. I serve these with beef stew and vegetable soup.

1 can of Bud.....room temp
3 cups self rising flour
3 tablespoons sugar

heat oven to 375 degrees
Mix together in a bowl
spray some cooking spray in a loaf pan (glass or metal)
pour into loaf pan
bake for 45 minutes
butter the top after it comes out of the oven.

I serve it with a nice beef stew

Thanks...would be great if you run out of yeast, or its flat and you need to make bread!

If the brew is flat the yeast is gone. I'd use the flat beer in a beef stew. It comes out very yummy.

I use this one. I think the original came from a Farm Journal cookbook.

Beer Bread

Ingredients
• 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
• 3 cups self-rising flour
• 3 tablespoons white sugar
• ½ teaspoon seasoned salt

Directions
1. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, salt, and flour. Add beer and continue to mix, first using a wooden spoon, then your hands. Batter will be sticky. Pour into a 9 x 5 inch greased loaf pan.
2. Bake at 350° degrees F for 50 for 60 minutes. The top will be crunchy, and the insides will be soft.

I asked about this a couple of years ago. I really think the sugar needs to be cut back because they are too sweet. Almost more like muffins Or a coarse cup cake. The recipe my MIL use to make tasted just like yeast rolls.

Here's one I found on the internet

3 cups of sifted flour
3 tsps of baking powder, if not using self-rising flour
1/4 cup of sugar
1 12 oz. can/bottle of beer
1 stick of melted butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a loaf pan.

Mix powdered ingredients together, then add the beer.

Pour into the loaf pan and pour the melted butter over the batter.

Bake for 1 hour. Remove from pan and cool for 15 minutes.

I have made the beer bread recipe that "Chasing Hawk" has. I cover mine with foil for a while so it does not get over done on top and use only half of the sugar. My husband and girls have always liked it. It can be doughie on inside if the out side cooks too fast. Also don't worry about a loaf pan, place whole dough on cookie sheet. An elderly lady gave us this recipe in York Town Va. about 34 yrs ago.
