    Canned Biscuit Dough Donuts And Holes

    Serves 16
    Recipe By: Paula Deen

    Peanut oil -- for frying
    1 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1/4 cups ugar

    Icings:
    2 cup confectioners' sugar -- divided
    5 tablespoons milk -- divided
    1 teaspoons vanilla extract
    1/4 cup cocoa powder
    2 can large buttermilk biscuits
    Colored sprinkles
    Chocolate sprinkles

    Heat 2 inches peanut oil in a large pot or Dutch oven to 350 degrees F.
    In a shallow bowl, stir together the ground cinnamon and sugar and
    set aside. In a small bowl, whisk together 1 cup of confectioners'
    sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, set
    aside. This is the vanilla icing. In another bowl, whisk together 1
    cup of confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup of cocoa powder and 3
    tablespoons of milk and set aside. This is the chocolate icing.

    Lay out the biscuits on a cutting board and with a 1 1/2-inch round
    cookie or biscuit cutter, cut out a hole from the middle of each
    biscuit. Fry them in the oil until golden and then flip with tongs to
    fry the other side. You can even fry the donut holes. Drain on paper
    towels and then toss in the cinnamon-sugar or ice and decorate with
    sprinkles, as desired.

    Prep Time: 30 minutes
    Cook Time: 2 minutes
    Yield: 16 to 20 servings

    I do these doughnuts all the time for a snack.. I usually make homemade doughnuts, but night time craving sometimes calls, and my friend Paula Deen comes to the rescue.. so good with making drizzles of chocolate, or powdered sugar, and I even do the caramel sauce for ice cream that I melt in my microwave.. so yummy, but warning, they are addictive!

    I used to fix these when my kids were little and I had new, clean oil in my Fry Daddy - I just used a thimble to press out the hole in the doughnut and then fry them, of course the kids fought over them. We just put plain sugar in a plastic bag and shook them in it. The kids also love Nutella on them.

    I use the lids off a coke bottle to do the holes, works great..

    Always used to make these, too, and the family gobbled them up. But I have an empty nest now, so one day I decided to make them just for myself. Turns out I didn't like them after they cooled off. They were heavy, dense, and tasted like oil-soaked biscuits, not donuts. But they were heavenly when still warm!

    I used to make these all the time when my kids were little, to save on money! I would frost them and powder them, kids thought they were awesome!

    My kids also ate zillions of these. You can put jelly in them to if you use a baster poke a hole ans squeeze!! MMMM

    I too, use to make them for my kids but they flew the coup so now I use the 10 little biscuit type and roll them out and put apple filling on them. Moisten with egg white and
    fold them over like a turn over to seal, and my DH loves them with
    apple, blue berries, chocolate etc. I then Fry them in about a 1" of oil and turn them over till them are golden
    brown. I roll the dough out to a 5" circle.

    I make apple biscuits too using tubes of biscuits but use fresh apples as filling.
    cut each biscuit in half and wrap around a small piece of apple and deep fry. Then roll in cinnamon/sugar. Yummy
