Place a 3 pound Pork Shoulder Butt in crock pot.
Mix: 12 ounce can Coke Cola-10 3/4 ounce Cream of Mushroom Soup-1 1/4 ounce Lipton (dry) Onion Soup Mix. pour over roast-cook on high for 4-5 hours
to make the gravy, dip some of the juice from the crock pot, adding cornstarch and then mixing until
smooth, pour back into the crock pot and mix until desired thickness for a wonderful gravy

QuiltingNinaSue posted this recipe maybe 2 years ago and it is fantastic. I have also used this on pork ribs which is also very good.

Check southernplate.com. There is a section for slow cooker recipes. I have done a few of them, esp. the turkey breast & they are very good.

    BEEF TIPS

    4 lb stew meat
2 envelopes dry onion soup mix
3 small cans mushrooms (do not drain)
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce

Place all ingredients in crock pot. (You do not have to brown the meat).
    Cook on low all day.
    Serve over rice or noodles.
You could add broccoli pieces or baby carrots during last few hours.

I use my slow cooker for spareribs. I put them in the pot standing up (uncut) and without any liquid, cooking on low for about 4 hours, making sure they are almost done. Then I put barbeque sauce on them and finish them in the oven for about 20-30 minutes at 350. They are the best. An alternative is to put cut up ribs in the pot, add barbeque sauce and either water or cola and cook until almost done, then finish in the oven. I pre-cook a lot of them, cut then into 3 or 4 rib pieces and put in the freezer, taking out what I need when I want spareribs for dinner. Saves time and dishes - just make sure what you take out is defrosted first, so they warm up in the over for about 30 to 45 minutes.

Whatever you make in it, use the crock pot liners. It will save you clean up time. I lift the whole meal out in the liner, put the whole thing in a bowl, tie the liner closed and put leftovers in the fridge. For dryer roasting like chicken, ball up aluminium foil into fat balls to line the bottom of the pot, place chicken on top of the balls. If your meat is a little big for the lid to fit, use foil to mold around the top to fit. I have several different sizes and shapes of crock pots and use them all. If it fits, it cooks in a crock pot.

    I like
    4# rolled rump roast
1 can cream of chicken soup
    1 can milk
    1 envelope Lipton's onion soup
I put this in the crockpot before bed, frozen.
Add the other ingredients and cook on low overnight
In the morning, add 1# baby carrots and potatoes for however many people you will feed. Then I turn it on high for a noon meal.
This makes a good gravy. Sometimes I'll take the gravy out and thicken it and sometimes not.
I watch for the roast to go on sale. Sometimes less than hamburger.
This has been Sun. dinner for years.

    Italian Beef

3-4 lb roast (less tender cuts are fine to use)

1 package Good Seasoning dry mix

    1 can beef consommé

1 small jar pepperocini peppers with juice (hot or mild)

    Garlic powder to taste

Place meat in a crock-pot and sprinkle with the Good Seasoning and garlic powder. Add pepperocini and pour consommé over all. Cook on low for 8 hours or until meat falls apart. Shred meat into juices and serve on a hoagie bun. Mozzarella cheese can be added and put under broiler for several minutes.

    3-5 pound roast
1 envelop of Lipton Onion Soup mix
    whole onion, minced
    1 can of beer
    water to cover the meat

Sear the meat, put in the crock pot and cook on high for 2 - 3 hours. Add potatoes and carrots, cook for another 3-4 hours. (the high on my crock pot is pretty hot so I have to play with the time to cook).

dry roasting in crock......I am not a frequent user of CP.....didn't know this ------ does it come out crispy like roasted in oven chix ?

i guess I use my oven like a Crock...low and long, covered, then uncover to crisp up.......in my world gas is cheaper than electric.....
