Looking for taffy recipe
My grandmother used to make taffy. She would cook it in a cast iron pan. When it was done and cooled, we buttered out hands and pulled it until it was golden tan. Does anyone have this recipe? I remember we had to do it on a cold day with low humidity or it would never harden.

Google "salt water taffy" or just "taffy". I found several recipes as I too recalled Mother making it on cold winter days. There are a variety of recipes. I haven't tried it yet, waiting to have grans to help pull it. Good luck.

As kids we always went to a couples home in our church the Sunday evening before Christmas and we pulled Taffy. I grew up in a little country church and we often did things like this. So, here is the taffy recipe we still use. ENJOY!
Jim's Taffy
5 c. cane sugar (use cane)
1 c. honey
2 T vinegar
¼ lb butter (must use butter, oleo will not work.
1 ½ c. water
Cook to hard crack stage (270 degrees). Cool in pans until able to handle. Pull until white in color. Stretch like a rope and cut in pieces. Each piece needs to be wrapped in waxed paper.
