Thank you FabStripper, the ingredients in the link you provided sound very similar. I am going to try this. I have done many searches, many times and come up blank. As I recall (and this is taking me back more years than I care to admit) the cake had a pound cake type consistency. I originally gave her location (Western Maryland) thinking it might have been a "regional" recipe and someone from that area might have a recipe that had been handed down. My grandmother also made the most awesome fruit cake I have ever eaten...both light and dark. Of course it didn't hurt that she baked them in October and kept them in a very cold spot and wrapped them in dishtowels soaked in Irish whiskey several times before Christmas. I do have her fruitcake recipe but mine have never turned out as tasty as hers. Thanks again, everyone.
