Oppsie Bread

1 Attachment(s)
This recipe is great for diabetics, people with gluten allergies or people just trying to cut out carbs.

OMG, I have GOT to try these!!!
Instead of bread - make oppsie bread instead YUMMMMM

Will you have a hard time living without bread? Ooopsies are a good option. It’s a “bread” without carbs and can be eaten in a variety of ways.

Oopsies
6–8 depending on size.

3 eggs
100 grams (3.5 ounces) of cream cheese
a pinch of salt
1 teaspoon baking powder or cream of tarter (can be excluded)

Separate the eggs, with the egg whites in one bowl and the egg yolks in another.
Whip the egg whites together with the salt until very stiff. You should be able to turn the bowl over without the egg whites moving.

Mix the egg yolks and the cream cheese well. If you choose, 1tsp of cream of tarter or baking powder (this makes the Oopsie more bread-like).

Gently fold the egg whites into the egg yolk mix – try to keep the air in the egg whites.

Put 6 large or 8 smaller oopsies on a baking tray.
Bake in the middle of the oven at 150° C (300° F) for about 25 minutes – until they turn golden.

You can eat Oopsies as bread or use them as a bun for a hotdog or hamburger. You can also put different kinds of seeds on them before baking them, for instance poppy, sesame or sunflower seeds.

Wow I believe I will have to try these! Thanks!

meanmom 07-20-2013 04:41 AM

Looks yummy. If anyone makes this let me know how it is.

Tartan 07-20-2013 05:49 AM

Sounds neat and I might have to try it.

I was making quick biscuits using Bisquick and while I was doing something else one of my daughters turned the carton around and I put an egg in the dough, which was from another recipe on the other side of the box. We loved the egg biscuits and I still make them that way today. We call them "accident biscuits".

Will have to try the oopsie recipe. I gave up refined flour and sugar several years ago. Will sometimes just HAVE to have a bite of bread. This might fill the bill! Thanks.

Pinkiris 07-20-2013 11:15 AM

These are on my "recipes to try list". Since my husband is living low carb, bread is always a problem. I'd love to make something that we can both share. Thanks for giving us the recipe!

SouthPStitches 07-20-2013 11:29 AM

If you had to guess, what would you think the calorie count might be?

mandyrose 07-20-2013 11:38 AM

mmmm! I need to try this wonder how it would turn out with the flavor cream cheese like the strawberry or pineapple

leakus 07-20-2013 11:53 AM

My DH is diabetic and loves bread. Will try

joyce blint 07-20-2013 02:56 PM

Halo 07-20-2013 03:14 PM

Thank you so much for posting this. My DH & #3 daughter, also a cousin, is gluten free. This is perfect for all three of them.

SewExtremeSeams 07-20-2013 05:07 PM

Will have to try it.

Teddybear Lady 07-20-2013 05:10 PM

This recipe was posted on my facebook page the other day. I'll have to check with my gluten free friends to see if they've made any of these.

Yakkity 07-20-2013 05:35 PM

3 eggs...225
1 package cream cheese...800
for 8 pieces, just over 150 calories each
you could reduce that by a lot just by using fat free cream cheese, which would be 240 calories,+225 for eggs
465 for 8 pieces or approx. 58 calories each

Love the looks of these and plan to try them for lunch tomorrow. Who do you store them? Like bread , in a zip-lock on the counter or in the frig? How long will they last?

Dar-midlife 07-21-2013 03:36 PM

what are you Oopsies? the recipe says you need 6 to 8 of them. I have never heard of an Ooopsie! then as the recipe goes on it says to add the cream cheese. I'm guessing it has something to do with cream cheese? I'm feeling pretty silly not knowing what this is but maybe someone can help me! lol

btiny36 07-21-2013 04:50 PM

Ok I tried these today and well hum well not my favorite and there is no way I would be able to convince my father to eat them...Tuesday I want to try and make them with flavored low fat cream cheese like strawberry....Mine were in the oven for at least 30 min. Has anyone else tried them yet?

ctipton 07-21-2013 05:48 PM

ooooohhh hey thanks for the recipe

sailsablazin 07-21-2013 06:48 PM

Anyone figure out what I can substitute for the cream cheese---gluten and dairy allergy at my house.

I am going to try canned pumpkin..works great in a lot of recipes..not pumpkin pie filling, just plain canned pumpkin

Can you get cream cheese with flavours that isn't the spreadable kind? I don't imagine this recipe would work very well with the spreadable, would it?

tessagin 07-22-2013 06:25 AM

looks good. I'm ready to try something different. I like different breads but sometimes I just want a sandwich with no big ole' fat bun. Gonna have to hang onto this recipe. Thanks for sharing!

mimiknoxtaylor 07-22-2013 12:49 PM

Will have to try this. Thanks for sharing

Sweetie, Ooopsie is the recipe name and 6-8 is the amount the recipe yields.

mjhaess 07-22-2013 04:57 PM

They look so yummy...thanks....

sassy granny 07-22-2013 05:32 PM

Thanks Donna for the approximate calorie conversion. Will definitely try it now.

Dar-midlife 07-23-2013 11:58 AM

OMG! I just went back and reread the recipe. Do I feel like a "ditz". This is one of the better ones I've done in a while!! guess it is one of those times I have to sit back and laugh at myself:-) (thanks for helping me out!)

I didn't get to make these yesterday but plan to today. I am a weight watcher. I just calculated the WW points plus. If you make 8 of these they are 2 points each.

nativetexan 07-24-2013 11:15 AM

oh that sounds lovely. cooking in grams.... I just watched this Irish lady and she measured in grams and mils or mills too. lovely food and the t.v. showed what it would be to us in ounces. http://www.amazon.com/Rachels-Irish-.../dp/0007462581 lovely dishes to put her foods on too. I love beautiful dishes!

missmay 08-01-2013 09:50 AM

Gotta try these. DH and I need to cut carbs but love to have sandwiches, this may be a great solution to having our bread and eat it too. Will try with fat free cream cheese as we need to cut calorie also.

meanmom 08-02-2013 03:07 AM

I made these last week and did not like them at all. They were like eating egg whites. Nothing like bread. I will not make them again. If you try them I would either use parchment paper or grease the pan. They were hard to get off the pan.
