I've seen it at Kroger as well as WalMart. I love the stuff but haven't bought it in a while, I should though, I've found a couple recipes that use it that I've been wanting to try.

I've noticed it however, I actually don't remember using it. I wonder if it is better for the body than the frozen topping. But, I suppose anything sweet is bad for the body........I've not heard of root beer cake, thoughtful of you to do that for her.......calla

I didn't think anyone drank raw milk....isn't milk pasteurized to destroy bad bacteria or whatever? Pardon if this is a silly question...city girl, here...only buy milk from store...

Have you noticed we cannot find the ingredients for our old favorites any more. I think the "box" too over!

My Mother loved Dream Whip to use as icing on a cake. This reminds me of better days when she was still at home with my brother, sister and I. She's in a nursing home with dementia and barely remembers us.

Farmers almost always drink their own milk. BIL used to be a dairy farmer and many in the family got milk from him. The danger usually comes from cows eating grain. Never know for sure what might be in the grain. Cows eating grass or hay that hasn't been sprayed with anything are usually pretty healthy and in spite of what you read all the time, most farmers do NOT regularly inject their cows with hormones or antibiotics or anything like that. The only time BIL ever needed to give his cows antibiotics was if the cow had an infection and her milk was dumped out. No self-respecting farmer would allow milk like that to be used. It's against the law as far as I know.

The milk is fine, like I mentioned, when it's a grass fed cow and it's healthy. Of course, with all that cream mixed in, it's always quite fattening. I never cared for the taste of it, it does taste different, but farmers are used to it. As it turns out, I have issues with dairy so I don't have to worry about it anyway.

Arbed31.........I'm wondering if "taste" jogs memories......might give it a try and make your mother one of her yummy cakes and take her a piece. My mother was a wonderful cook and baker and that nursing home food was nothing like hers. Even if your mother doesn't remember, it might bring joy to her day!
