When they are made into balls she rolls them in the chili powder. Last couple lines on that recipe.

    Mexene Cheese Ball

    18 oz grated cheddar cheese
    1 small grated onion
    4 (8oz) pkgs cream cheese
    1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
    3 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
    Mexene chili powder.

Let cream cheese and cheddar cheese soften, mix all ingredients except the chili powder. Roll into logs or balls. Makes 3 (4 inch) balls. Wrap in plastic wrap and let meld in the refrigerator at least overnight.

I put on plastic gloves and mix by hand, it makes it easier to roll into balls and the powder. I haven't tried any other chili powders, I have always found the Mexene. It's has a blue label and is in a round column type jar with a blue lid.
oops, you roll it in the chili powder. Important step.

The Pineapple Cheese Ball BCM posted above is one of my favs. I sometimes thin it with a little pineapple juice from the crushed pineapple and serve it more as a spread and it is very good that way with crackers.
