I think you may have the same vintage Kenmore I sew on -- mine is a 158.1774. I absolutely love mine.
My Kenmore is model 158.18032. I bought it new in 1973 or 1974. It has been a workhorse, but now only sews slow because of a bad clutch. Since no ones makes the parts any longer, I haven't been able to get it repaired. However at the Tyler, TX quilt show, I met a man that has been in the repair business for over 40 years and he said he can fix it. So it's going to visit him next week. Free estimate, so nothing to lose.

It doesn't do all the things my modern one does, but it does some of the things even better.
