I’m not Joe, but in answer to your question, you may be looking at multiple timelines, depending on where the model 27 was made. The USA machines had round rear inspection plates as early as 1900 (maybe 1896, but I don’t know which factory made serial number 13804165). But, I have a 27K2 made in the UK in 1901 that has the kidney rear inspection cover.
