Well, let's just say that the seller had it appraised and they know it is worth more than $1000 even without the chord "which cost like $20 bucks and we can get one".

I want to hire that appraiser - would help raise my net worth significantly! And then I could brag about the great investment I've made in vintage sewing machines!

I wonder if the appraiser was with his insurance company. There is a world of diff between actual value and the insurance replacement cost. Dealing with antique restoration and appraising of such items my customers always had a problem with this.

Well, an Elna Grasshopper isn't an antique, or even that rare of an item, and are routinely sold, with a power cord, for well under $500, so I would doubt that anyone would legitimately appraise one at $1000+.

Regardless of their claims, most folks would know that such an appraisal never took place.

This one just got updated - bet he can't figure out why no one is beating a path to his door. . .

I wanted to ask where he found a place that is able to sell them at that price - I got a bunch I'd like to offer them!

He obviously got his prices from Craigslist.

If you are going to ask 4-5 times what they are worth, at least drag them out so folks can see them. Maybe run a rag over them as well.

    By the way, nice carpet.

I'd be willing to bet that the seller never sewed one stitch with this machine.
