    They do that because the spouse insists they try to sell it, so they set a price so high that if it does sell, they won't cry. Anyone who writes that does not actually want to sell the machine - they only want a lot of money.

    I prefer the "I just want it out of my house!" prices.

    Last night I sent the seller a gentle email about Japanese clones, and she just pulled it from sale while she investigates. Nice email from her.

    I always translate this into 'my husband/wife told me I have to get rid of it but I don't want to, so I'm asking ridiculous $$ for it, so when it doesn't sell, I can say "See honey, I tried!" and keep it anyway' I've seen this same thought process attached to bike and boat parts, too. Actually, adult 'toys' in general!

    Here is another one with "Grandma's old sewing machine" pricing. It looks a lot like my Nelco. But it is hard to tell in the dark.
