yes it does. I actually am looking forward to it. We have known one couple for over 20 years and the other one for only 3 years. But they have become friends with each other, too. We joke and laugh together. We listen to their heartbreaks and console them. We respect them for who they are. They are like family to us.

DH has the phones. I have a big ole sweet potato and the fixing for dressing sans any oysters (ugh). might make a pie. Never know for sure about holidays any more so just go with what I have. I did look for a small bird but they were all over 15#s and don't need that for 2 people. Not big turkey fans.

So, it's wonderful that you are taking your life into your own hands, making a difficult and perhaps (family-) controversial decision, and arranging details to be able to live well with that decision. My family and I are at odds because of a family situation that I have decided to take control of. I spend hours a day on the phone with doctors, social workers etc. I am tired of the drama the family causes. Above all of this, I am expected to jump in the car and drive an hour to sit there and then be scrutinized for my choices. So husband and I decided to start another family tradition...we invited two couples who have no family to share this holiday with. The gals have divided up the meal, I am doing the turkey/dressing, the sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. The other two gals are doing the potatoes, beans,appetizers, treats, bread and desert. Guys are in charge of the refreshments. I embroidered special aprons for the two gals, each with designs that reflect their personalities. I even monogrammed new dinner napkins. I am using one set of my finest china, antique flatware and silver. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving. I will miss seeing my parents and will stop by today to make sure they don't need anything, mom is ok with what I am doing this year. I will not miss the drama, and I will not allow them to make me feel bad for making this decision.

i'm cooking. we are 7 people. but there are still all those vegetables to cook. i like cauliflower, who likes turnips w/carrots, and then theres the mashed potatoes, the sweet potatoes, and not to be forgotten brussel sprouts. i also found a new recipe for cranberry relish. i started today at 1 setting the table and then cutting and prepping. alot of work. doesnt matter how many there are. on top of this, i got a new convection oven. well the recipe said put oven on to 450. okay. cut brussel sprouts in valf sprinkle w/oil s&p. okay. cook 45 minutes. well that didnt seem right so i did half hr. okay. so the brussel sprouts were burned. so now i opened some bags of frozen and that's what they are getting.

I'm the cook & baker 1 son & family coming other son & wife live in GA they stay home for Thanksgiving and alternate Christmas with us and her family. Used the Pioneer Woman's brining recipe and from scratch green bean casserole with my additions, also her homemade cranberry sauce really good. We're having a fresh apple cake with caramel icing instead of pies this year. Made Pumpkin/zucchini/blueberry bread for breakfast. Have been cooking the last 2 days ( that included a big pot of veggie chili) so Thursday won't be hectic. Lots of leftovers :-). Go back to school Monday for the busiest 3 weeks of the year. My Honor Societies lead our Middle/ High school in raising $10,000 in that time to assemble 160 Angel Boxes for teens in long term foster care or aging out of the system. This is our 15 yr. and it's a whirlwind time! Hence the need to for leftovers in the freezer!

This will be the first time in 10 years that I will be able to spend Thanksgiving with my kids. My husband prevented me from seeing my kids its a long story. Anyways....recently I moved in with 2 of my daughters who are roommates. We three decided to NOT fix a big dinner instead, one daughter is going to make us breakfast burritos around 8 am, at 12:30 pm the three of us are going to a matinee movie to see the second hunger games movie, at 3:00 we will have homemade tacos for dinner and then my youngest daughter is going out of town to watch the Civil war football game between 2 Oregon colleges. Its BIG here..the game is on Friday. So that is my Thanksgiving this year. And I am so THANKFUL to be able to spend it with my kids. Who knows what we will do for Christmas. Who knows we might just eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. LoL. It doesnt matter what food we eat its the fellowship of your family and friends that matter. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE.
