If it isn't swinging right it could be a broken plastic gear.

Steve,

I wish I could be at the event you described, but I just can't do that right now. First, my budgent won't allow the travel, nor will this darn sorry spine. I know I couldn't begin to drive/ride across-country, and I seriously doubt I'd be able to fly. We'll wait and hope for some photos!

No plastic in this one Miriam, it's a tank of a machine.

Well then it needs lots of cleaning and lots of fresh oil. Maybe a little heat. I have a machine that would not zig zag well. I worked and worked on it... Oiled that thing heat let it set turned it you name it... Finally was trying to use it and a point of a needle fell out of who knows where and the thing works great. Go figure.

Can anyone tell me about this machine, please. My niece bought it for me last week, but I won't get it until she comes through here next year.

I got a machine once that I thought was froze until I turned it upside down and there was a bobbin stuck up inside the pillar. Another go figure.
I don't know what's up with Rodneys' machine, I didn't hear from him so I didn't go down there.

It is a 66 with the "red eye" decals.

No problem. If you post the serial number, someone can give you more information. You do have an interesting stitch length adjustment knob. To me, anyway, it looks older.

I was chatting with my cousin recently and she said she learned to sew on a treadle. The would take the round cover off and then use it as a chair. Has any one else heard of the covers being used as chairs?
