Everybody worked on such great quilts this VQW! Love looking at everyone's quilts - so many more ideas. Sewing room is cleaned up except vacuuming. Up next, DGD's quilt. Need to finish putting the blocks together, make backing and binding.

I like your quilt as is. My favorite baby quilt size is 40 x 60. So 50 x 50 sounds good to me. The bigger one can be used as drag quilts when the baby becomes mobile. 😀

Part of why I'm thinking of doing this is that I'm not thrilled with the pinkish purple sections, but also I'm wondering if a 50" square quilt is too large to be useful as a baby quilt. What do ya'll think?

Either way, I plan on getting it sandwiched this afternoon and quilted this evening or tomorrow morning.

This is where I got the idea to do what I did - very simple. I did it a bit different in that I started with 9" blocks, cut them apart, mixed around the fabric and sewed them back together. I cut 90- 9" blocks (all different) and then divided them into 10 stacks. I left one hole, and laid out 9 cutting patterns for the others, not going smaller than 2"x2". I tried to use similar sizes so I would have more to mix and match when I put them back together.

Thanks, Cathy. I have so many batik pieces from quilting and garments. I might have to try that.

Thanks for quilting with me this weekend. I quilted a couple small quilts today, now they just need binding. They should all be done by the end of the week hopefully. Please feel free to continue posting pictures and what you're working on.

    See you next month!

    Raggiemom: Thanks for hosting again!

I didn't get to the backing for my niece's quilt. I decided to change what I was using for it and wanted to wash it first.

I did finish the block for week 3 from Amy Gibson's book The Quilt Block Cookbook. It was the first time I ever used the blanket stitch and I have been sewing for over 50 years. Obviously, I don't do much appliqué. .

I had hoped to finish this top, but got it to the point where the blocks are sewn into large sections. This was my first time using my new walking foot and I ran into a few issues.

Very cool use of log cabin blocks, Rebecca. Your quilt reminds me of faces... moustaches and beards!

Just finished putting the binding on this donation quilt I was making this long weekend. It goes to its new home tomorrow.

It isn't exactly quilting, but I finished a crib sheet for my niece's new baby and started cutting the crib bumper. Went to Joanns and bought way too much fabric, all of it for the crib set.
