When my mom passed several years ago we placed one of her quilts across the top of the casket once it was closed for the service.

I love this idea. Have never heard of it, but I will pass it on to my children and grandchildren. Thanks!

At my aunts funeral pews were draped with all the quilts she had made. All of the pews were covered. It was a beautiful site. She was very generous with her talent.

Great loving idea. Do you think it would be okay to give
    a quilted wall hanging?

We displayed a quilt mother had made with appliqued pigs
on it (her own design & handwork) on top of her casket.
We 4 kids liked the idea & think mother would be/was pleased to have people see it. (she had a collection of pigs)

This is a great way to honor, remember, and carry forward precious memories.

I went to a funeral servie several ears ago -- the woman was noted for her knittng and they hung some of the aphgans she had made around the sanctuary -- it was a UU church so very plain but for her beautiful workmanship.

My goods friend's daughters pl;aced a thinble on her finger, and one of her quilts across the lower half of the casket. At the reception following the interrment, the whole place was decorated with her quilts. We all really enjoyed reminiscing about watching her make those quilts.

Yes, I have seen it done, one of the ladies I quilted with passed away and she had one on her casket. My daughter knows that is what I want her to do when it's my time. It will be given to her after the service. Lots better than flowers.
