I am traveling to Johnson City/ Jonesborough TN area this weekend. I always visit Tennessee Quilt Shop- love their selection, but i was wondering if anybody knew of any discount priced fabric outlets or stores in that area. Thanks for any info. Teresa

There is Somewhere Sewing in Johnson City and the Tennessee Quilts in Jonesborough which you mentioned. Don't know of any others, but I love both places.

Yes, I have been to both. You must know Polly. I am going to stay with her. I read that Somewhere Sewing is going out of business?

There are two, soon to only one, quilt stores in Johnson City/Jonesborough. The store in Johnson City is called Somewhere Sewing and is on Roan Street. Sadly, they are closing in October but they are have a going out of business sale. Everything is 30% off.

There is also a Hancock Fabrics in Johnson City. It is in the Target shopping center.

In Jonesborough, the store is called Tennessee Quilts. It is on Main Street, just across the street from the welcome center.

This is a quote from Somewhere Sewing's website. I will miss that store.

We are unable to continue business in our present location due to untenantable circumstances. We will remain open through early October and have begun our 30% liquidation sale. Our God-inspired plans are to relocate to Holmes County, Ohio. We will continue as Brother and Babylock Sewing Machine dealers upon arriving in Ohio and will continue our online fabric sales. Plans for quilt retreats and classes are in the works now. It is with great sadness that we leave this area but with excited anticipation to see what God has in store for us next.

I will definitely plan to visit Somewhere Sewing since it will be in their last month. I visit Holmes County, OH often and am looking forward to seeing their new store there when I go next spring.

    Teresa,

If you go south on I81 to Exit #36, then go toward Greeneville, there is a small place on the left side about halfway to town...Country something. Used to be a tiny little service station, I think, and has a car's trunk attached to the old garage door! Their fabric is $2.99/yd for all prints, and I think $1.99/yd for solids. It is somewhat of a "stuff store" with pottery, other glassware, etc., but they have a fabric room, too. Lots of bolts of nice fabric. They sometimes cut a little crooked, but usually gave me a couple extra inches on cuts, too. But most of their fabric is nice and they have lots of it. There will be quilts in the window, if not outside. The ladies who work there make quilts and sell them, too. I used to do most of my fabric shopping there. I think it is worth the drive. There is also a nice little quilt shop in Greeneville, but can't remember the name...you could google for it. Greeneville is not that far south of Jonesborough. Don't you just love Jonesborough? Well i just got back. And yes, I love Jonesborough. It is the oldest town in Tennessee. I also love Tennessee Quilts. It is overwhelming. And i spent lots of money there too. They were having one dollar fat quarters for Labor Day. Also visited Somewhere Sewing. They still had lots of selection left. Didn't get the message about the place off Exit 36, but will check it out in the spring. Thanks everyone. Teresa

I am sorry this is late, but you may visit again.I live in Greeneville,Tn.,just a short distance from Jonesboro. We have 2 fabric/quilt shops. Stitch back in time is located a short distance of 11E. The phone number is 423-638-3908. The other one is Fabric at Country Home located on Baileyton Hwy. They have quality fabric at very low prices.there phone # is 423-638-9939. You can get directions from them. You will be delighted with both of them.

Don't how far you will be from Fayetteville, Tn., but they have a fabric store named Sir's Fabric. They have tons of fabric and at very reasonable prices.
