I and both daughters are organ donors.. DH received a new liver in 1993. Without the love of life from the donor and their family, my lover would not be here.

I have. I personally don't care what they do with my carcass when I'm done with it - but if I can help another person in any way, I want to. It would be my last Act of Kindness.

If you haven't signed up, please think about it, and talk with your family members about it for themselves too.
check out anatomy gifts registry. I want to do that.

I am. I won't need it anymore.
DH is HCV positive and wants to be donated to science for research on the disease, then cremated. His family is adamantly opposed. I told them I had it in writing and it WOULD happen.
Neither DS is and will not discuss it.

Good for you, it is HIS decision, not theirs. You stick to your guns and do it his way If he can help with research, then why not give it a go.

I wanna live old enough that there isn't a single thing worth using. ("they" can't have it anyway, but I wanna live long anyway!)

My DH and I are both organ donors, have been for several years.
Our DD needed a Pancreas/Kidney transplant but she didn't get it,she died in 2003. We donated her organs but the only things that they could use (because of her Diabetes and other medical problems)were her skin and eyes. But she helped a man in SD be able to see. Our son was killed the next day after we lost our DD by a drunk driver, but because they couldn't get our son and his friends out of the truck for over an hour, and then they had to do an autopsy, we couldn't donate his organs. He was a healthy 21 yr. old. I really felt bad because of not being able to help someone else.

I am. Wonder if they can take your organs, then do a cremation, which I've told my Son to do. Guess I need to check & see. Thanks for the subject.
