The slider is a very slick sheet that is put on the bed of the sewing machine it allows the quilt to glide easily over the bed surface of the machine, there is a small hole which the needle passes through, it covers the feed dogs which must be lowered or covered with a plate. These are usually about 12 by 10, (can't remember the exact size) and can be trimmed to fit the bed of the machine if the machine bed is smaller. The slider has a bottom which tends to adhere to the machine bed without tape etc. The silicone mats for the ovens apparently need to be taped down but are larger, but I don't know how well they compare to the real thing. I have a supreme slider and think it works well. :-D

Here is the original Supreme Slider. I just made mine out of non stick ovenliner, which is very slick,. Hope this explains it better than I did. Enjoy.

This is very slick too!! and twice as big.
Sorry and I hate to sound stupid but I've not heard of the slider before and that may be because I've not done my own quilting. However, am going to try to do my own because it's too expensive to send the quilts out. Anyway, I don't quite understand how you are using this---does it go under the quilt to help slide it along or what? Can you explain for me. Thanks much

Yes, It goes on the bed of the machine. The slick surface helps when you move the quilt while you are FMQ. I injured my hand again so I have not been able to use it. Hopefully soon.

Thank you, I had surgery on hand in May . It takes a little over a year to heal and I fell on it a couple of weeks ago and now I am in a splint again until it is better. Darn. Always something!!

I kept mine large as I have a machine table that lowers my machine. If I find that is is to large I will split in two. I then put the rubberized shelf line on the outside of the slider and around the needle hole, on the bottom side of slider to keep from moving. I have a lap quilt almost ready to FMQ, so I am excited to use it. The price was $19.99, and I had a $5.00 off coupon. The Supreme slider sells for around $30.00 plus shipping. The SewSlip sells for about $27.00 plus shipping and they are half the size.
Just a day earlier and I could have saved enough to buy some more material....darn it!!!
