I think I have decided to do a simple 1/4" inner stitching on the white and green squares and on the green boarders. I am just not confident enough to try fancy stitching. Thank you all for your help and suggestions :) I will be sure to post pics of the finished quilt!

I agree that it says candy and that semi-circles in the pinwheels would add interest. I would put them from the center spinning counter-clockwise. (Along the long of the white, and the short of the red.) Maybe a small feather (flower) motif in the green--I'm thinking of the 8 petal one which would mimic your pinwheels.
