I have made serveral quilts from quiltville. Especially like the around the world one.
very easy to do and uses a lot of my scrapes, but somehow it never stops piling up. Going to sort out my 2 1/2 inch strips tomm and start another one, maybe the bargello one. with my scrapes.

Yaharalady, I love your scrappy star.
All of these scrappies are nice. I am delighted to see the variety here. The butterfly quilt reminds me of one my sister's great grandmother in law had done in the 30's, although I think I like this one better. The border is perfect.

I will also post this as a tut, as 3 or 4 people have asked me about it.
Half square triangles are basic to a very large number of quilt blocks. The old way is to cut 2 traingles, then try to get them together without stretching the bias. The new way is much easier:
Take 2 squares 1" bigger than the finished size of the HST you want. Mark one diagonal on the lighter fabric. Pin the squares right sides together. Sew 1/4" away from the marked line on each side. Cut on the marked line. Press. The 2 squares you now have are very slightly bigger than you want.
Using the diagonal line on your ruler as a polacement guide, trim away the excess and 'fine tune' your block at the same time. The same method works whether your finished HST will be 1" or 12" I'll retake the photos later.

there are also lots of cats at the shelter that would love to have a cozy quilt...they love flannel shirts as batting...they will love any color you would like to put together. They even like it when you practice FMQing...they even don't mind that the fabric were from your hubbies old shirts or pants. there are so many shelters that would love to have your creation.

I was thrilled to see this. I knew there was a reason I was keeping all of my little scraps! I've had many people shake their heads when seeing them. Hopefully I'll be able to "show them" that is isn't a dumb idea. :)
