I've candled for decades and have NEVER had hot wax poured, or even dripped by accident, into my ears or anyone else's I've seen or done. This is a misconception.

It's not a misconception, people do this and wind up burning their eardrums and canals. They may not be doing it the way you are, but I don't mess around with my hearing. It's something I'd like to keep.

Ya, ear candles, for those of you who are afraid to try it...are REALLY easy to use :) I went to a homeopathic store, they explained to me how to do it and sent me home with a pamphlet just for safety's sake. The smoke creates a vacuum type affect and it's amazing the difference between healthy and unhealthy ears...I encourage ear candleing to ANYONE. As long as you are smart about it...

My husband swears by them! It is the smoke NOT the wax that is used (if i am not mistaken) and he claims they are wonderful. I have never tried them tho, i have always used hydrogen peroxide and warm water for build up.

Candace, I didn't mean that your comment wasn't valid, just that this is NOT the way ear candles are supposed to be used. That's not to say that some people don't concoct their own "method", of course. And if one is not familiar with ear candling, and is at all uncomfortable with the technique, they'd be advised to follow their instinct and forego using them, like you.

I was so surprised to read what was written I guess my comment was over-reactive. Sorry.
