I take the queen size pattern, look at the size of the blocks and then add enough to make the larger size. Sometimes just adding an interesting border or two (scrappy or combination of fabrics used) can be enough to enlarge the quilt

If you have a block you really like just take the pattern to a copy place and enlarge it a few times untill it suits your needs. There are some out there. If you google big block quilts something interesting should come up. Enjoy. Marvel

Welcome from a fellow Colorado quilter. I just add blocks. There are two books that address this problem. One is the All-In-One Quiter's Reference Tool and the other is 200 Quilting Tips, Techniques & Trade Secrets by Susan Briscoe. If you are just starting out I'd very much recommend purchasing the Quilter's Reference Tool, it is loaded with all kinds of info. Susan Briscoe is hard to beat for great quilting, but if I had to pick one the Reference book is chock full of wonderful stuff.

Get help if necessary, but learn how to size up the quilt patterns -- you'll be less limited once you learn. There are several ways to increase the size: make blocks bigger, make more blocks/ make borders larger. Enjoy the process!

You can make a quilt any size you want by adding more blocks and/or more borders. Problem solved.

Welcome Wilma, from Littleton, CO. A queen size quilt is 84x92. You would need 7-1/2 yds for backing. 7/8 yds for binding.

Helen

I will send you a note.
