The trouble with that is the two patterns together when sewn together but if that is what you like.......

You can try to press the center seams open before you sew and see if that helps with the bulk.

I'm going to make both color placement pinwheels because I've decided to make the patches on pinwheels quilt on Bonnie Hunter's website. I've always admired that quilt, this pinwheel challenge will be the kick I need to get it done.

That's neat. I saw the 16 patches and pinwheels on her site and she does have blocks going different ways. All a matter of taste!
That's one busy quilt! :-D

Well, my 2nd pack of Origins Layer Cakes came today as promised; if you remember I ordered them Sat. afternoon. I am going to stack all my squares so the dark (or solid) is on top, then sew around the sides, then cut one at a time and assemble so I get them all going the same direction. Since I only got 2 packs of layer cakes, and I am making a queen size quilt, I will only be making 42 blocks, which I think will work, 6 across and 7 down. I have a jelly roll too and some yardage, so I will do a narrow sashing strip, then use the jelly rolls to make a "scrappy" border. Will probably change my mind by the time I get to the end.

Your quilt, your rules!

For my quilt they need to go all in the same direction.
I'll probably go with the red and white block pattern.
I remember on the Missouri quilt co you tube video she mentioned placing them where they should be before you sew so you don't get mixed up.

Added: that is opposite from the about.com page posted! Oh, well, my quilt, my rules!

I continue to change my mind until it's done!
Your quilt should be about 75x87 before the borders so I think you have a good plan. I'm amazed they came so fast! Nice to hear the company and the PO is on the ball!
:-D
