So, I'm planning out my next quilt, an asian themed queen-size for our guest bedroom.
One thing I'm planning on including is a chinese proverb running verticaly down the quilt, in chinese text. Origonaly I had thought about appliquing the characters but that was before I realized how complex each character was. So now I'm looking at making some stencils and...well, then I'm not sure what?
What kind of paint or paint product would work for this? It needs to be washable/colour fast, and easy to manage as the characters are complex.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You can use your computer for the graphics, print on paper backed material treated with Bubble Jet Set, and the print is permanent and washable. You could use fabric paint and experiment on that.

Google Bubble Jet Set if you're interested.

Well, yeah, I was figuring on fabric paint, I should have said that. But do you have any suggestions for what kind? Alot of the ones I see are for raised "puffy" paint, or have glitter, or somthing. I want a straight black, reliable fabric paint. I've messed around with just plain acrylic paint before, on t-shirts, but it's thick and the paint tends to chip off eventually after multiple washings.

I've read about the jet-ink printing onto fabric, sounds cool, but I don't have a jet ink printer.

Years ago they made liquid embroidery pens. these are perfect. I havnt looked for them so dont know if they still make them.
I used them to paint pictures from a coloring book on fabric and made a quilt with them.
Got to go look for them next trip to Joanns.
