You won't believe the prices at our thrift/goodwill store

I went to our local Goodwill the other day because of all the "good" things people were saying they found there. Well not here in S Florida. I think it is because we have alot of transient people and most do not sew/quilt etc. Really alot of junk

I had the same experience, good will terribly high, went to Salvation Army thrift, and found some lovely wool suit jackets, I am cutting up and felting and using in my handwork projects.

I agree, the night stand was too much. It needed too much work for that price. About a year ago we found a table on the side of a house for free. We took it home and sanded it. Painted the legs black and restained the top. Looks great now. I use it as a cuting table in my sewing room.

Wow, I don't understand at all. I go to our Goodwill all the time and find fantastic buys. I have gotten fabric, last time over 20 yards of various prints for under $13.00 and was thrilled. I assumed that the donation was from the family of a deceased crafter. The notebooks that I keep all my printed patterns in I get at Goodwill for 99 cents each, sometimes a large notebook runs me $1.59. I was thinking of going over there tomorrow to look for blue jeans, never pay more than $6.00 a pair and some look like they've never been worn. For day to day knock about blue jeans I hate to pay what they charge for blue jeans nowadays. Hope bad things haven't struck my Goodwill.

Up north I had several freinds that had part-time jobs at Goodwill and they all left, as they felt the public was really being ripped off.
Living in So. Fl. and being involved in several dog rescue groups, all my donations go to the thrift shops they run. At least I know where the monies are going. I also have been told that the baled clothing from Goodwill is shipped overseas to be sold and Goodwill makes out very well from the sale of this.
