Whenever we travel, my husband puts a compacted travel bag in his suitcase for souvenirs, etc. With all the grandkids, kids, co-workers, etc that we usually buy for - even a little trickety kind of thing - the extra bag usually is full before we head home.

We do this when we go to Africa. Take huge duffels of thrift and bargain store clothes and requested items, plus photos and gifts from our friends to their families (diabetes test strips are a biggie) and we come home with scads of cookies, canned sardines, spices, traditional clothes, gifts, and photos. If you don't do this, it's like burning money if you are flying.
